Rinus VeeKay took pole for the second Indy Lights race at Road America, having already secured the front starting spot for the opening race.

The Dutchman once again had Ryan Norman as his closest rival, with the gap between the pair slimming down to 0.2122 seconds.

In a surprise third was Aaron Telitz, making his second appearance of the season in the championship after returning in the Freedom 100. He was 0.2172s back, ahead of Norman’s Andretti Autosport team-mates Oliver Askew and Robert Megennis. Askew’s championship lead over VeeKay now stands at nine points.

Behind them was Dalton Kellett, team-mate to VeeKay at Juncos Racing, and the last of the drivers to get within a second of pole.

BN Racing improved its form to get David Malukas and Toby Sowery into seventh and eighth, while Telitz’s full-time team-mate Lucas Kohl qualified last, 1.2697s off the pace.
