Cape Motorsports has announced that Kiko Porto will drive its #47 car in Indy Nxt at two of the season’s four remaining rounds.

The 19-year-old Brazilian will make his debut this weekend on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course, then will context next month’s two-race season finale at Laguna Seca.

He is unavailable to contest the two rounds in between, as both clash with his primary programme in USF Pro 2000. That series is at Circuit of the Americas on the date that Indy Nxt races at the Gateway oval, then the two series are at Portland on the same weekend and Porto would not be allowed to compete in both series at once.

Porto is currently second in the USFP2000 standings with DEForce Racing, and has five podiums and one pole to his name from 13 races. Last season he came seventh in the championship with the team, and had one win and two other podiums.

It is actually Porto’s fifth year with DEForce, having been United States Formula 4 runner-up with them in 2019 before spending two seasons in USF2000. He was champion in his second campaign, winning four races on the way.

Cape ran Enaam Ahmed in its #47 car for the first six rounds of the Indy Nxt season, and the rookie had a best finish of fourth. He then vacated his seat, and Cape raced as a one-car team at Iowa Speedway last month with Jagger Jones.

Last weekend he recieved a new team-mate in Matthew Brabham, who finished 13th in his cameo outing, and now Porto will be third different driver to pilot the #47 car.
