McLaren Formula 1 junior Ugo Ugochukwu will race in four GB3 rounds this year for Rodin Motorsport alongside his Formula Regional European Championship campaign.

The American finished third in British Formula 4 with the team when it was known as Carlin back in 2022 in his first season of car racing, as well as testing with the squad in FIA Formula 3 at the end of last year.

Ugochukwu won the Euro 4 Championship, was runner-up in Italian F4 and third in F4 United Arab Emirates in 2023 with Prema, who he will continue to race for in FREC this year. He also made his F3 debut with Trident at last year’s Macau Grand Prix, finishing 15th in the showpiece event.

“I’m very pleased to be racing in the GB3 championship with a team as prestigious as Rodin Motorsport,” said Ugochukwu.

“I’m honoured that with the continued support of the McLaren Driver Development Programme I have been given the opportunity to race in such a great championship in the United Kingdom.”

Ugochukwu was second fastest in GB3’s pre-season test at Oulton Park this week, and he will return to the Cheshire venue for the season opener at the end of the month. He will also race in GB3’s two Silverstone rounds and at Spa-Francorchamps.

“We are excited to have Ugo on board for the upcoming season,” said Rodin’s team manager Ricky Taylor. “His skills and achievements speak for themselves, and we believe he will be a valuable asset to our team. I look forward to him getting behind the wheel alongside Louis [Sharp] and Arthur [Rogeon] and for racing to begin.”
