Tom Mills took his second GB4 victory of the season, leading from lights to flag on Silverstone’s grand prix layout in Sunday’s opening contest.

After race one on Saturday was cancelled due to heavy rain, KMR Sport driver Mills led away from pole in dry conditions and immediately built a 1.2-second advantage over Evans GP’s Cooper Webster, who gained two places at the start.

Mills extended his lead by a further second in the early stages, as Fortec Motorsport’s Colin Queen battled Webster for second. Queen moved to the inside of Webster into Stowe on lap two, with Webster remaining ahead on the outside.

But Queen tried again at the end of the Hangar Straight on the next lap and this time got by, while Mills’ lead grew to 3s. Mills eventually took the chequered flag 5.328s clear of Queen, with Webster a further 1.2s adrift in third.

The best action came in a race-long battle for fourth, with KMR’s Jeremy Fairbairn resisting pressure from Elite Motorsport’s Harri Reynolds and Fox Motorsport’s Liam McNeilly

A slow exit from Aintree on the penultimate lap by Fairbairn allowed Reynolds to draw alongside and take the position before Brooklands.

Fairbairn held onto fifth ahead of McNeilly, who was handed a 5s time penalty at the finish for exceeding track limits and dropped to seventh behind KMR’s Jack Clifford.

Graham Brunton Racing’s Harry Burgoyne Jr edged Fox’s Sid Smith to eighth by 0.3s, while Jason Conzo finished 10th.
