Tecnicar Motorsport has announced Griffin Peebles as its second signing for the Spanish Formula 4 season.
The Valencia-based operation has been present in Spanish F4 since 2018, first competing as the single-seater arm of kart manufacturer Praga. That association was dropped from the team name during the 2021 campaign, with it then racing as Formula de Campeones.
With that local project in Valencia now concluded, the Tecnicar organisation has taken over the F4 squad having previously had some of its members working within it. Tecnicar members also work for Formula Regional teams.
Peebles will be team-mate to Eric Gene, the son of World Touring Car Championship race-winner Jordi Gene.
“I am beyond excited to join Tecnicar Motorsport Solutions for the 2023 Spanish F4 season and make my single-seater debut with them. It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’m looking forward to it,” said Peebles.
Tecnicar team principal Javier Lapena added: “We are delighted to have Griffin for this season. He has shown great promise in karting and we believe he has what it takes to make an impact in single-seaters.”
Peebles did Italian F4 testing last year with Van Amersfoort Racing and AKM Motorsport, before joining Formula de Campeones in post-season Spanish F4 testing.
He tested again with AKM last month, before reuniting with what was now Tecnicar two weeks ago at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Chinese-born Australian graduated from mini to junior karting in the second half of 2021, then last year came 30th in the WSK Champions Cup, 23rd in the WSK Super Master Series and seventh in the WSK Open Cup for OK-Junior karts.
