Douglas Motorsport has completed its 2023 GB3 line-up with the signing of Tymoteusz Kucharczyk.

Kucharczyk was third in Spanish Formula 4 last year as a single-seater rookie, taking one win and 12 podiums for MP Motorsport, having earned the drive by winning the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy shootout.

Prior to that he spent several years in junior karting and in 2021 stepped up to senior karting, finishing second in WSK’s Open Cup, third in the Euro Series, sixth in the Super Master Series and 14th in the Champions Cup. He was also 24th in that year’s CIK-FIA European Karting Championship.

“I am very happy and grateful that in 2023 I will be competing in the GB3 championship,” said Kucharczyk. “It would not be possible without the support of people close to me and my loyal partners.

”Racing a Formula 3 class car in Great Britain is another important step in my career. Looking back, I will follow many great names such as my hero Ayrton Senna, who won in British F3 on his way to Formula 1.

”I would like to thank Wayne Douglas and his Douglas Motorsport team for the faith they have in me. I will work hard and give everything I have to perform well in this new chapter.”

The Polish youngster had feared he would not have the budget to continue in single-seater racing this year, particularly as backer Orlen had changed its sponsorship strategy in motorsport.

Kucharczyk will race alongside Formula Ford 1600 race-winner Shawn Rashid and Brazilian F4 runner-up Lucas Staico at Douglas this season.

“Tymek produced some very impressive performances in Spanish F4 last season, so we’re delighted to get him in our line-up for the 2023 GB3 championship,” said Douglas team principal Wayne Douglas. “We’re sure he’ll have a very competitive year and enjoy some great results.”
