Rene Lammers will remain with MP Motorsport for a second season in Spanish Formula 4, it has been announced.

The 16-year-old son of Dutch former F1 racer Jan made his single-seater debut with the team last year, coming 19th in Spain’s Formula Winter Series with a best finish of sixth and then improving to 13th in Spanish F4’s standings in a campaign which included a podium.

Before that he had an illustrious karting career, culminating in 2023 when he was CIK-FIA European champion, World Karting Championship runner-up, third in the WSK Super Master Series and 11th in the Champions of the Future series on OK karts.

“My first year in Spanish F4 was a huge learning experience,” said Lammers. “Single-seater racing is very different from karting, but with the support of MP Motorsport I’ve been able to grow as a driver. I’m excited to stay with the team for 2025, as we work together to take the next step and achieve stronger results. I’m ready to show what I’ve learned and continue improving.”

MP’s team principal Sander Dorsman said that Lammers “has taken on every challenge with a professional attitude, and we’ve seen steady progress throughout” 2024, leaving the team “confident that with a year of experience behind him, Rene will take a big step forward in 2025 to be one of the leading drivers in our team”.

Lammers will be team-mate to Richard Mille Young Talent Academy shootout winner Ean Eyckmans and at least one other yet-to-be announced driver.
