Santiago Ramos will remain at Race Performance Motorsport for his second Formula Regional European Championship campaign.
The 19-year-old spent three years in Formula 4 with limited success before stepping up to FREC last year with KIC Motorsport. He took a best finish of 12th over nine rounds before switching to R-P-M for the season finale.
He came 27th in the championship standings, but demonstrated his pace by going fastest in post-season testing at Mugello.
“I am delighted to announce that I will be joining R-P-M in the FRegional championship,” said Ramos.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me to showcase my skills in such a competitive field of drivers. I am eager to work alongside such an accomplished team and to contribute to our collective success.”
“I’m looking forward to representing such an amazing team on track and achieving great results together.”
R-P-M tram principal Keith Donegan added: “It’s great to have Santiago with us onboard for 2023. We were very impressed with his performance in pre-season testing, so I think there is a lot of talent and potential there. I think Santiago can be a real contender this season. We are excited to get going in Imola in April.”
Ramos will be team-mate to Irish rookie Adam Fitzgerald, with R-P-M yet to announce its third driver. Almost half of the seats on the grid have now been filled, with three teams yet to confirm any drivers. However two of those teams, R-ace GP and Van Amersfoort Racing, are believed to have already made signings.
