Fernando Alonso protege Pepe Marti will remain with Campos Racing for his second season in FIA Formula 3.

The 17-year-old came 26th in the championship in 2022, scoring once in the final reversed-grid sprint race of the season. During the year he was signed up to Alonso’s A14 Management company.

He has started 2023 by racing in Formula Regional Middle East for Pinnacle VAR, and is currently 14th in the standings having scored in four of the six races he has contested so far. Last year he was the FRegional Asian Championship runner-up.

“I’m very pleased to continue my involvement in the FIA F3 Championship with Campos Racing for 2023,” said Marti.

“We completed a promising season, constantly learning and improving our results, and the season came to an end with very positive testing sessions. I hope to have a strong season and continue my positive feedback with the team.”

Marti is only going into his third season in cars, having started his single-seater career two years ago in Formula 4. He claimed a win and came seventh in the points in the United Arab Emirates championship, then won twice with Campos en route to third in the Spanish F4 standings.

“It’s such a pleasure to have Pepe with us for a third consecutive season, because our goal has always been to help our drivers through the single-seater pyramid towards F1, and Pepe is a perfect example,” Campos team principal Adrian Campos Jr commented.

“He is one of those that make up our large family and we are looking forward to achieving strong results together in his second FIA F3 season, because our team has plenty of trust placed in him.”

The signing of Marti completes Campos’s line-up and means there are only four seats left on the FIA F3 grid: three at PHM Racing by Charouz and one at Rodin Carlin.
