Patrick Heuzenroeder has signed with Emirati team Xcel Motorsport to race in Britain’s GB3 championship this year.

The 19-year-old Australian is currently racing for MTEC Motorsport in Formula Regional Oceania, where he is fourth in the standings with three podiums from the first four rounds. That campaign concludes this weekend, and he is a title outsider.

He is already well experienced in GB3, having driven for Elite Motorsport in the last two rounds of 2023 and picking up a podium then racing full-time for JHR Developments last year and coming 12th in the points with a single podium.

“I’m very excited to be joining Xcel Motorsport in my 2025 GB3 campaign. I think we’ve got a great team, full of experience, and hungry to win, so I can’t wait to get the season started in April,” said Heuzenroeder.

Xcel however will be new to GB3, following on from when it expanded into British Formula 4 in 2023. Heuzenroeder is its first signing for its new programme.

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Patrick to Xcel Motorsport for our inaugural GB3 season. Patrick’s experience will be invaluable as we hit the ground running in 2025,” said Xcel’s team manager Gary Bonnor.

“His performance in 2024 and over the winter in New Zealand shows he has what it takes to compete at the sharp end of the grid, and we’re committed to providing him with all the tools and support he needs to achieve even greater success this year. We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together.”
