The new Palou Motorsport team has announced Miron Pingasov and Javier Sagrera as its line-up for the inaugural season of the Formula Regional-based Eurocup-3 series.
Palou Motorsport was launched from scratch in January by 2021 IndyCar champion Alex Palou, and is run by his father Ramon. After receiving delivery of its cars, the team conducted several days of shakedowns and testing at Navarra at the end of March with Pingasov.
He was then joined by Sagrera for the official pre-season test at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit this month, and Sagrera set the pace while Pingasov was 12th fastest.
“I’m incredibly proud and grateful to announce a new chapter in my career, I’m excited to join Palou Motorsport for Eurocup-3,” said Sagrera, who is stepping up from Britain’s GB3 series.
The 19-year-old raced part-time in Spanish Formula 4 in 2019 and 2020, then joined Elite Motorsport in GB3 for 2021. He made the podium in a reversed-grid race on just his third start, and four more top-five finishes put him 10th in the standings.
Last year he switched to Carlin and finished one place higher in the championship but with less points. A third place with fastest lap at Snetterton was his season highlight, amd he had five other top-five finishes.
The 16-year-old Pingasov is moving up to Eurocup-3 after two years racing in F4. He did three rounds of the Spanish championship with MP Motorsport in 2021, then stuck with the team for 2022 and came 18th in the standings with a best finish of fourth achieved in the opening race of the season.
Between those two campaigns he also raced for MP in F4 United Arab Emirates, and came 14th in the 2022 championship.
