Noah Ping will remain with the rebranded Velocity Racing Development Racing by Arden team for his sophomore GB3 season.

The 21-year-old American was 12th in the standings last year with the team, then known as Arden VRD, taking wins at Silverstone and Snetterton and a further podium at Zandvoort.

Ping finished runner-up in the YACademy Winter Series in his homeland in 2022 with VRD, remained with the team in the United States Formula 4 championship where he came third in the standings, and also contested the first two rounds of USF Juniors. He initially planned to step up to USF2000 for 2023 before dropping that programme in favour of GB3.

“I am beyond excited to be coming back to the GB3 championship with VRD Racing by Arden,” said Ping. “Last season, VRD, Arden and I learned an extensive amount about the car, the tracks, and how to win. In addition, we learned how to work together as a team, extracting the most out of every situation.

“That’s why I am happy to say that I will returning to this team. I’m looking forward to getting the season started and excited for what’s to come from our entire team. VRD Racing by Arden and I have one goal in mind, winning championships.”

VRD, run by British expat Dan Mitchell, has extended its collaboration with Arden for a third year in GB3 and will run an all-American driver line-up in the upcoming season.

Arden has also announced it is joining the GB4 grid this year with its protege Leon Wilson.

The 16-year-old has been a member of Arden’s long-running Young Racing Driver Academy since 2022, and spent last year testing the team’s GB4 car on both UK circuits and in Europe.

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to drive in this year’s GB4 championship with Arden,” said Wilson.

“Garry Horner, Steve Hutchinson and the whole team at Arden have given me tremendous support and training since I joined their academy in 2022. It’s now my chance to follow in the footsteps of some of Arden’s famous alumni, and I’m determined to make the most of this opportunity.”

“We’re delighted to be expanding our national presence into the GB4 championship,” said Arden’s team principal Garry Horner. “We’ve enjoyed great success in GB3 since 2021, but GB4 gives us an ideal opportunity to further develop our YRDA members before climbing up the motorsport ladder with us.

“Having worked closely with Leon across the past couple of years, this is the perfect environment for him to make his car racing debut and we’re looking forward to seeing him translate his testing form into actual competition.”
