Car racing rookie Alvise Rodella has added a Spanish Formula 4 campaign with MP Motorsport to his schedule for 2023.
The Italian raced in senior karting last year, coming sixth in the Trofeo Andrea Margutti for X30 Senior karts and 10th in the WSK Champions Cup for OK karts. He also took part in the Top Gun by Pro Racing school’s F4 track days as well as starting an extensive F4 testing programme with MP that has run over the winter.
Last month he made his single-seater racing debut with Slovenian team AS Motorsport in Spain’s new Formula Winter Series, which uses the same car as Spanish F4. Rodella came 12th in the standings with a best finish of seventh from four races.
“I am very excited to start my first season in formula cars at MP Motorsport,” said Rodella. “The Spanish F4 championship is an extremely competitive class. My opponents are going to push me to get everything out of it, while I’m learning the car in the meantime. Testing with MP was already a great experience, and now I can’t wait for the season to start.”
MP now has five drivers in its Spanish F4 line-up, with Keanu Al-Azhari earning his seat by winning the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy shootout, Pedro Clerot joining after winning the 2022 Brazilian F4 title, Jeronimo Berrio moving across from French F4 and Valerio Rinicella staying on for a second season with the team.
“Alvise has shown his promise in the karts,” said MP’s team manager Sander Dorsman. “Now we look to turn his talent into the track skills needed to compete at the front in his first season in motorsport.”
