Will Macintyre will continue in GB3 next season after making a return to Elite Motorsport.
The 17-year-old began his car racing career with Elite, contesting the 2021 Ginetta Junior Winter Series and then finishing runner-up in Ginetta Junior the following year. He stepped up to single-seaters with the team at the end of 2022, taking two podiums during a cameo at the GB4 finale.
Macintyre has spent the last two years racing with Hitech GP across three different championships. In 2023, he came sixth in Formula 4 United Arab Emirates and scored two wins and 12 other podiums en route to second in the British F4 standings. Three early-season victories helped him briefly lead the way on moving up to GB3 this year before finishing fifth overall.
“My aim is obviously to win the driver’s title,” said Macintyre. “I enjoyed a pretty positive first year in GB3, showing very good pace and results as well as leading the series. I learnt a lot and overall, the season made me a faster and a more mature driver.
“I have a close relationship with everyone at Elite thanks to running with them earlier in my career and we enjoyed much success together. Ed [Ives] and the guys have always been very welcoming while overall, it’s an incredibly nice environment for me to be in. I was very impressed with Elite’s performance this year and I’m really looking forward to hopefully continuing our previous success from Ginetta Juniors.”
“We are extremely happy to be announcing Will as our first 2025 GB3 driver,” said Elite’s owner Eddie Ives. “We have kept a great relationship with Will from when we ran him to the runners up spot in Ginetta Juniors in 2022.
“He is very fast, proven and talented driver which, combined with all our efforts we are putting into 2025, expect to be immediately fighting for wins from the opening event in April.”
GB3 is introducing a brand new Tatuus MSV GB3-022 next season. FIA F3 driver Joseph Loake, who finished third in GB3 in 2023, was the latest driver to help put mileage on the test car at Navarra in Spain this week.
