Louis Sharp will switch to Prema for his sophomore season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
The 18-year-old has previously only raced for Carlin and its successor Rodin Motorsport since leaving New Zealand to race single-seaters in Europe, and this year he came 26th in FIA F3 for Rodin and with a best finish of fourth place.
Prior to that he had come fourth in British Formula 4 in 2022, won the title in 2023, then been champion as a rookie in GB3 last year.
“I’m very, very happy and excited for next season. Prema has a very rich history of winning championships and developing drivers for Formula 1,” said Sharp.
“To be able to say that I’m going to be a Prema driver next year makes me proud, and already working with the team, I can see how motivated they are and how much they want to win. I’m really looking forward to having a strong season with them. I’m really proud to be here.”
His team-mates will be fellow F3 sophomore and Antipodean James Wharton and Formula Regional graduate Enzo Deligny.
“We think Louis is a really promising racer. He achieved great success at a very young age and showed that there is more to come from him,” commented Prema’s team principal Rene Rosin.
“We are confident he will merge with the team well from the start and that he will be a great fit with how we operate. He has the potential to achieve impressive results in his second year in the series, and we are determined to maximize that potential as soon as possible.”
