Liam McNeilly will make his debut in USF2000 on the streets of Toronto this weekend, as part of Jay Howard Driver Development’s line-up.
It will be the third series the Briton has raced in this year, having begun 2024 in USF2000’s feeder series USF Juniors. He is one of JHDD’s drivers there, and sits second in the standings ahead of the last two rounds of the season. From 10 races so far he has claimed two wins, three other podiums, four pole positions and two fastest laps.
He has also competed on home soil in the Formula 4-spec GB4 series, making a cameo at Donington Park with Fox Motorsport and picking up two podium finishes. GB4 was where McNeilly spent his rookie year of single-seater racing in 2023, and he came third in the standings with two victories, four second places and four thirds.
“First street circuit for me, one free practice and straight into qualifying, let’s make the most of it,” the 18-year-old said of his USF2000 debut ahead of a planned full-time step up to the series in 2025. “Big thanks to everyone that’s made this happen.”
JHDD team owner Jay Howard added: “It is great that we are able to advance our drivers within our own ladder to the next level and allow them to gain the knowledge and experience that will help them next season. We will have a full slate of drivers in Canada and both Liam and G3 [Argyros, another to combine USF Juniors with USF2000] will be able to learn and help with our programme’s success.”
