ART Grand Prix’s Lena Buhler was fastest in F1 Academy practice at Zandvoort, with two very different sessions.
FP1 featured lots of track action, with all 15 drivers doing at least 13 laps, but in FP2 nobody did any more than eight laps.
MP Motorsport’s Hamda Al Qubaisi was on top pretty much from start to finish in FP1, setting a 1m44.503s early on, improving to 1m38.598s, 1m38.106s and then later in the session a 1m37.758s.
That put her 0.206s seconds ahead of Rodin Carlin’s Abbi Pulling, who was in second place for most of the session, and Buhler was 0.664s back in third. MP’s Emely de Heus and Prema’s Marta Garcia were the only other drivers within a second of Al Qubaisi’s pace.
The pace was significantly quicker in FP2, and Buhler’s seventh and final lap in the afternoon session was a 1m36.689s.
Carlin’s Jessica Edgar was 0.343s slower in second place, and Campos Racing’s Nerea Marti was 0.403s behind in third place. This time the top nine were covered by a second, with Campos’s Maite Caceres propping up the timesheet and 3.620s off the pace.
