KIC Motorsport’s 2020 Formula Regional European Championship line-up will consist of Finns Konsta Lappalainen and Patrik Pasma.
Lappalainen, son of team boss Petri, is spending a second season in the championship after finishing 11th in the points last year. He took one podium as a Formula 3 rookie, having moved to the series as Formula 4 North European Zone champion.
Pasma meanwhile switches across from the Formula Renault Eurocup, where he was also a rookie at F3 level and took one podium. He came off the back of race-winning campaigns in British Formula 4 and the MRF Challenge.
“It’s great to start the new season in a new series and a new team,” said Pasma.
“The tests have gone well and the car feels really good and competitive. Expectations and goals are high for the start of the season, and I believe that with KIC Motorsport we have a good and realistic opportunity to fulfill them.”
Petri Lappalainen commented: “I am delighted that Patrik and Konsta are driving in my team this year.
“Patrik was testing our cars after last season at Monza and immediately impressed us. KIC Motorsport is preparing for the season with a high quality test program and Pasma is adapting very quickly. We have invested heavily in this season and believe that with Konsta and Patrik we are ready to fight for the prize money from the very first weekend of the season.?
KIC’s announcement brings the FREC grid up to 11 cars, with the new Team Maestro by Cram entry yet to name a driver.
