Karting star Kean Nakamura Berta will begin his single-seater career this year by racing for Prema in Euro 4 and Italian Formula 4.

The Alpine junior is already well known to the team, having raced for its karting squad in 2023. His main programme last year was OK karts, and he came third in the CIK-FIA World championship, fifth in the European championship and second in the Champions of the Future series. On KZ2 shifter karts he came sixth in the FIA’s World Cup and European championship.

In 2022 he was a factory Kart Republic driver, and he won the European championship and the WSK Euro Series for OK karts as well as coming second in the WSK Super Master Series, third in the CotF Winter Series and seventh in CotF itself. Before that he was world champion on OK Junior karts in 2021.

“I am really excited to join Prema for F4. Having represented their colours in karting last year, it feels fitting to continue the journey into the first steps of single-seaters with them,” said the Japanese-Slovakian. “Seeing their achievements until now, I have high hopes for the season to come and I can’t wait to get started.”

Prema’s team principal Angelo Rosin commented: “It’s great to welcome Kean to our F4 squad. He had impressive results in karting, and we are delighted to add him to our line-up. We look forward to the challenge of making the team progress, and we are proud to welcome the Alpine Academy on board of our F4 operation as we begin our work with Kean. It is going to be an interesting season, but I think it will be a rewarding one.”
