Van Amersfoort Racing has announced Joshua Dufek will remain part of its Formula Regional European Championship line-up for a second season.

Dufek first drove for VAR in Formula 4, where he came seventh in the ADAC and Italian championships, with one victory in the latter. Before that he had raced for MP Motorsport in Spanish F4, and come fourth in the 2020 season.

Dufek’s move up to FRegional last year actually came with Hitech GP, as he did three rounds of the Asian championship. He then returned to VAR for FREC, and claimed three podiums en route to ninth in the standings.

“To return with VAR for a second season in FREC is something that I am really excited about,” said Dufek.

“I have built a strong relationship with the team, and we communicate very well together. I look very much forward to growing further with the team. I just finished the FRegional Middle East championship, which was a great way to prepare myself for the championship. As last year, the grid will be very competitive, and I can’t wait for it all to get started.”

The 18-year-old was part of PHM Racing line-up for FRME, and he came sixth in the standings with two podium finishes.

“We are obviously very excited to continue working with Joshua in 2023,” said VAR’s CEO Rob Niessink, CEO.

“This will be our third year together, and over this period Josh’ attitude and eagerness to develop as a driver has only grown. His determination to be successful is contagious and his connection with the team will support his drive to achieve great results this year.”
