Ed Carpenter Racing junior Josh Pierson will remain at HMD Motorsports in 2025 for his third season in Indy Nxt.

The 18-year-old raced in the series part-time last year, doing nine races out of 14 and having a best finish of sixth to come 15th in the standings.

He moved up one position in the points table in 2024 as he did the full season, but this time he finished no higher than seventh.

“I have some work to do this off-season but looking to take everything that I have learned last year and this season and put it toward the best programme possible in 2025,” said Pierson.

“I look forward to continuing my work with HMD Motorsports and being close to my team as I make the move from Portland to the Indianapolis area.”

Prior to this year, Pierson had juggled his single-seater career with sportscar racing exploits. He came third in the World Endurance Championship’s LMP2 class in 2022, and fifth a year later. He also two LMP2 class podiums in IMSA and came 10th overall in the 2022 Le Mans 24 Hours.

“Josh is still quite young and will enter the 2025 season with a tonne of experience,” HMD’s president Mike Maurini said.

“With a programme confirmed early, Josh will be able to fully focus on his upcoming campaign as he will have a busy off-season leading into the first race of the season in St. Petersburg.”

Pierson is HMD’s second signing for 2025, alongside Caio Collet who came third in the standings this year.
