Jordan Missig will return to Abel Motorsports’ Indy Nxt line-up for this weekend’s race on the Gateway oval.
The 26-year-old American made his championship debut with the team in the third round of the season on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course, qualifying 16th and finishing 18th in race one of the event then turning 16th on the grid into a 13th place finish in race two.
He then drove for Abel again at Road America, where he qualified 15th but retired from the race, and at Mid-Ohio where he finished a twice-lapped 17th.
After also driving in last week’s test at Nashville Superspeedway with the team, and going 17th fastest, Missig will now make his oval racing debut at this level of single-seaters by racing at Gateway.
Missig graduated to Indy Nxt from USF Pro 2000, where in 37 races with Pabst Racing he claimed two two third places and a fastest lap. He also competed in In Formula Regional Americas, and came fifth in the 2021 standings there with one win and five other podiums.
He is better known for his sportscar racing exploits in Radical Cup North America, where he was runner-up in 2019 and is currently the 2024 championship leader with several victories to his name already this year driving for the team of race-winning IndyCar driver Graham Rahal.
His deal to return to Abel has been secured fairly late, since four weeks ago he was still working on making another Indy Nxt outing possible alongside his Radical committments.
