Jordan Missig has been announced as joining Abel Motorsports’ Indy Nxt line-up for 2025, taking the spot vacated by Yuven Sundaramoorthy.
In November it was confirmed that Sundaramoorthy would be continuing his relationship with the team, which began in 2023. However a recent change in his budgetary position, which he announced earlier this week, meant he will instead follow up his run to eighth place in the 2024 standings with a return to the grid and Abel in 2026.
The deal to bring Missig into the team full-time, having contested five races this season, was understood to be already in the works by the time Sundaramoorthy’s place in the line-up for next year looked unstable.
“I’m so excited to be joining Abel Motorsports and the Indy Nxt field for 2025,” said Missig. “This is the culmination of years of work, and now everything that I have learned and developed is going to be put to the test against some of the toughest competition in motorsports.”
The 26-year-old started his car racing career in sportscars, then did two seasons in Formula Regional Americas where he claimed one win. He moved up to USF Pro 2000 with Pabst Racing following that, coming 11th in both of his campaigns.
Missig finished 18th on his Indy Nxt debut on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course this May, and became more competitive in later appearances. He finished ninth at the Gateway oval when he made his final outing.
“It was great to get my feet wet in 2024 and get to experience an Indy Nxt race weekend instead of coming into 2025 completely new,” he added. “I got to know the Abel team pretty well and am already feeling really comfortable there, but ’25 will provide us that chance to just deepen our chemistry and communication together, which will hopefully translate to speed.”
Abel’s team manager John Brunner commented: “Jordan brings a well-rounded skill set to the table, and that paired with his starts in 2024 should set him up well as we get the season underway. We looked at a good number of drivers for ’25, and through that Jordan’s name continued to be brought up as someone that we thought would not only do well with us, but equally as important someone that represents the Abel brand the right way; which Jordan certainly does.”
