Linus Granfors set a new GB4 qualifying track record to take his second double pole of the season on Silverstone’s Grand Prix layout.

The Fortec Motorsports driver was 0.393 seconds faster than KMR Sport’s Lucas Blakeley, who is set to start alongside the Swede in the first two races of the weekend.

Granfors was the first to complete a flying lap in the 15-minute session, posting a 2m09.610s which was good enough to lead Blakeley by 1.6s. He improved to 2m03.467s next time by to hold a 1.7s advantage over Elite Motorsport’s Alisha Palmowski who edged KMR’s Harry Burgoyne Jr into second by 0.012s.

Despite lowering the pace to 2m01.351s on his third effort to lead Palmowski by 0.3s, Granfors was then pipped to first by Blakeley who went quickest with a 2m01.178s.

Granfors was unable to go faster on his next two laps but remained at the top of the timesheet, and he then improved on each of his final three attempts to end with a best lap of 2m00.540s.

Having been demoted at the halfway stage by Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter, Palmowski set a new personal best in the closing stages but had to settle for fourth, though she beat the Canadian to third for the second contest where the grid is decided by drivers’ second-best laptimes.

Burgoyne edged Fox Motorsport’s Brandon Templeton to fifth, the pair a second off the pace, with Arden’s Leon Wilson, Fortec’s Jack Taylor and Elite’s Finn Harrison close behind. Ava Dobson was 13th in her first GB4 qualifying session with Velocity Racing Development.
