British team Hitech GP will race in Formula Regional Oceania next year, when it runs as an FIA Regional Trophy for the first time.
There will be three cars entered by Hitech in 2026, and it has committed to spending multiple seasons in the New Zealand-based championship. It is the sixth team confirmed to be on next year’s grid.
Hitech is currently active in Formula 2, the FIA Formula 3 Championship, GB3 (a FRegional-based but not -spec series) and a selection of Formula 4 series. It has FRegional experience from the Asian championship and its winter series (2018-2022), a year in the succeeding Middle East championship and as the operating team of the all-female W Series’ inaugural season.
“We are excited to be joining the FRegional Oceania Trophy with an official three-car Hitech entry from the 2026 season,” said Hitech’s GB3 team manager Phil Blow, who will run its squad in Oceania.
“In recent years, we have sent Hitech drivers to the series for off-season mileage and to gain further experience, but as the championship continues to go from strength to strength, the time is right for us to have a fully-fledged Hitech team in New Zealand.
“As ever, we look forward to the competition, and to providing three young drivers in the region with the opportunity to gain a foothold on the junior single-seater ladder and begin their progression.”
Toyota Gazoo Racing New Zealand’s motorsport manager Nicolas Caillol, the man in charge of FRegional Oceania, called Hitech’s arrival “good news for the championship”.
