Ginetta Junior racer Nickolas Ellis will make his single-seater debut with Elite Motorsport at next month’s GB4 round at Donington Park.

The 17-year-old Anglo-American has competed for Elite in the entry-level sportscar series for the past 12 months, starting with the final two rounds of the 2023 season. This year, he currently sits 13th in the standings with four top-10 finishes to his name, having contested the first five rounds.

Prior to that, Ellis competed in the British Kart Championship in a Junior Rotax kart having only taken up karting seriously in 2021. He is also an accomplished sailor, bringing home a gold medal for the Isle of Man – where he was born – by winning his fleet at the RS Tera World Championship at the age of 11.

“It’s always been my dream to drive a single-seater, let alone race one, so I’m super excited to be making my GB4 Championship debut at Donington next month,” said Ellis. “Coming from Ginetta Juniors I obviously need to adapt, quickly, to aero and slick tyres, which is a steep learning curve, but I have shown good pace in testing.

“My times at Snetterton were competitive with the existing midfield runners so I’m hoping that I’ll be in the mix in the three races at Donington.”

Ellis will race alongside Alisha Palmowski and Finn Harrison, who both also competed in Ginetta Junior with Elite before stepping up to GB4 with the team this season.

“I’m delighted that Nick will be making his GB4 debut with Elite,” said Elite’s team owner, Eddie Ives. “It’ll obviously be a steep learning curve but everyone at Elite will be supporting him with the aim of getting him up to speed as quickly as we can during the event.

“We ran him in Ginetta Junior testing prior to his race debut late last year so have worked with him for a while. He’s tested well in France and at Snetterton in our GB4 car so I’m very hopeful he’ll have a good event at Donington alongside Alisha and Finn.”
