Hitech GP has signed Nicolas Todt protege Martinius Stenshorne to its 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship line-up.
Stenshorne began his car racing career last year, coming 10th in Formula 4 United Arab Emirates with one podium. He then came seventh in Italian F4 with two podiums, and was 17th in Spanish F4 despite only contesting a single round.
For 2023 the 17-year-old stepped up to Formula Regional with the R-ace GP team and had a best finish of sixth from a part-time campaign in the Middle East championship.
He upped his game when he arrived in the European Championship, winning on his debut then taking four more victories and six other podiums as well as three pole positions. He was championship runner-up behind the Formula 2-bound Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Rather than join FRegional rivals in stepping up to FIA F3 for the recent Macau Grand Prix, he instead contested the event’s F4 races and that means his F3 debut will come in the 2024 season opener.
“I’m looking forward to making the step up to FIA F3 with Hitech next season,” said Stenshorne. “I have every confidence that they will allow me to develop in my rookie season in the championship. It will be a new challenge for me, however I am feeling eager to be fighting for the top spots from the get-go.”
Hitech’s F3 team manager Paul Bellringer added: “We are delighted to add Martinius to our F3 line-up for 2024. He showed great potential during testing and given his race-winning form in FREC this year, we are confident that we will have an exciting and successful season together.”
