Alpine has confirmed that Franco Colapinto will race one of its cars at this weekend’s British Grand Prix, following the conclusion of his five-round deal last Sunday.

Jack Doohan started the season as Pierre Gasly’s team-mate, and Colapinto was signed on a multi-year deal in January as one of the team’s reserve drivers.

After the first six rounds, there was major changes at Alpine as team principal Oliver Oakes resigned and executive advisor Flavio Britatore – a staunch supporter of Colapinto – assumed his responsibilities. He swiftly swapped Colapinto and Doohan’s positions in the team.

Doohan’s highest grid position during his time in the cockpit was 11th, and his best race result was a 13th place. Since then, Colapinto has finished 13th in two grands prix and started as high up as 10th.

He came into 2025 having already scored points in Formula 1 with Williams after stepping up from Formula 2 mid-season, with Doohan also graduating from that championship when he made his F1 debut with Alpine in the 2024 season finale.

“I am looking forward to getting out on track at Silverstone, where I had my first grand prix outing for free practice one last year,” said Colapinto.

“It is a local race for the team with the factory just down the road in Enstone, so it is nice to be able to spend some time there with the team in between the double-header races. We are keeping our focus on one race at a time and continuing to work together to make improvements each weekend.”

The 22-year-old Argentinian will be making his 15th grand prix start at Silverstone, and Alpine will have three weeks to then decide whether to keep him or bring Doohan back in for the Belgian Grand Prix.
