FIA Formula 3 Championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli says he is not focused on breaking his win duck in the second half of the season.

There have been nine different winners in the first 10 races of 2024, only two of whom have been rookies. Fornaroli is an F3 sophomore, and last time out at Barcelona matched his 2023 podium tally of two second places and two thirds.

He has already exceeded his points tally from his rookie season, and leads the championship by five points despite lacking a win.

“I had a very good chance [to win] in Imola, but unfortunately I had an issue on the main straight that made me lose the race. But right now, the main goal is not to absolutely win every race, but also to take as many points as possible, even if it’s not a race win,” Fornaroli explained.

F3 races at the Red Bull Ring this weekend, then heads to Silverstone the week after. It was there where Fornaroli claimed his maiden F3 pole in 2023, and as “it’s one of my favourite tracks” he feels the potential could be there to take his first victory at the track too. But he reiterated that is not his focus, and highlighted to media the significance of his third place finish in the feature race at Barcelona since he outscored his closest title rivals.

“The feature race was very important for me because it allowed me to score a lot of points compared to the other championship contenders. And the main goal looking forward to season will be again to score as many points as possible, but without throwing away all the good things we are doing now and taking all the possibilities that I can take.”
