Fernando Barrichello has announced he will stay at Motopark this year for a second season in Euroformula.
The 19-year-old Brazilian is officially the first driver named for 2025, although it is understood the dominant Motopark operation has already signed several other drivers to complete its line-up in the Formula 3-level series.
Barrichello came third in the standings last year, taking one win, four other podiums and a fastest lap.
“Last year was extremely positive, and we’re going to use everything we’ve learned to go for the title this year,” said Barrichello. “One step from home with faith and hard work, every time closer to realising the big dream.”
Prior to Euroformula, Barrichello spent two years in Formula 4. As a car racing rookie he contested his home championship, and was seventh in the points table with two wins.
For 2023 he took on a triple programme, starting with F4 United Arab Emirates where he failed to score as a part-timer. Spanish F4 followed, and Barrichello came 17th in the standings with one points finish. His sophomore Brazilian F4 campaign went better, as he netted six podiums from 15 races. However missing the opening round limited him to fifth in the points table.
On home soil he has also raced in sportscars with older brother Eduardo, who was USF2000 runner-up and a Formula Regional European Championship podium-finisher before establishing himself as a Stock Car Brasil star, and against his father Rubens who was 2002 and ’04 Formula 1 world championship runner-up and is a two-time Stock Car Brasil champion.
