Former Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior Daniel Guinchard has joined Chris Dittmann Racing for his second season in British Formula 4.

Guinchard got picked up by Mercedes last year after a stellar in 2021 in which he won the British championship, Ultimate Karting Championship and British Kartmsasters Grand Prix on Rotax Junior karts and also won the British title for X30 Junior karts with Argenti Motorsport.

He stayed with the team for the step up to single-seater racing in British F4, and claimed one win and five other podiums en route to ninth in the 2022 standings. However it was not enough to keep his Mercedes backing to the end of the year.

Guinchard ended 2022 by contesting the Spanish F4 finale with the Global Racing Service team, then faced an uphill challenge to find the budget to remain in single-seater racing for a second year.

During the off-season he tested with several teams, including Virtuosi Racing, and this week will be in action with CDR for the first official pre-season test of 2023.

“Very pleased to be starting my second season in British F4 and in single-seaters,” said Guinchard.

“It’s not been an easy few months for me but so pleased to have a great bunch of people around me with the same goal for the season! Can’t thank everyone at CDR, especially Chris himself, for being so hand-on and supporting me into this season.

“Thank you also goes out to Virtuosi and JHR Developments for keeping me busy and sharp over the winter! Let’s go get it.”
