Oliver Goethe, the 2022 Euroformula champion, has been announced as the latest addition to the Red Bull Junior Team.

His first outing as junior of the Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri Formula 1 teams will be this weekend’s Macau Grand Prix, where he will be driving for Campos Racing. Red Bull said it was “stoked” to reveal Goethe as its latest signing.

The 19-year-old Danish-German came eighth in the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year with Trident, and was 19th in the 2022 standings after doing two rounds with Campos alongside his title-winning Euroformula campaign with Motopark.

“I am proud and excited to join the Red Bull Junior Team. They are a force to be reckoned with, breaking record after record,” said Goethe, who will complete an all-Red Bull junior line-up at Campos for the Macau GP.

“It hit me when I visited Milton Keynes and was faced with the wall of trophies from the floor to the ceiling. I realised then that I am about to become part of something very special. I grew up watching Sebastian Vettel winning races and championships in the Red Bull car, and as a German driver, I am proud to follow in his footsteps.

“Being part of an F1 team can provide me with priceless opportunities and open the door to the dream I’ve been working towards and there’s no better team to do it with.”

Before reaching F3-level racing, Goethe was a race-winner in Spanish Formula 4 and scored points in the Asian and European championships for Formula Regional. He has also taken class wins in sportscar racing.
