Prema has added Dion Gowda to its Italian Formula 4 and Euro 4 line-ups for 2024, while Van Amersfoort Racing has signed Alvise Rodella for the two series.
Gowda has already started working with Prema, as this week he begins his F4 United Arab Emirates campaign in which he is driving for the Mumbai Falcons team that Prema provides technical support to.
The 16-year-old Indian began his single-seater career in F4 UAE last year, coming 25th in the standings for Rodin Carlin. He only scored twice, but once he headed to British F4 with the team he was far more competitive and came fourth in the standings with four wins and three poles. He ended 2023 with an Indian F4 cameo in which he took a win and a fastest lap.
Gowda competed under a Singaporean license in karting, including representing the country in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy where he came fifth. Other standout results include eighth in the Champions of the Future series and ninth in the CIK-FIA World championship at the OK Junior level, and 29th in the WSK Super Master Series on OK karts.
Rodella joins VAR after spending 2023 primarily racing in Spanish F4 with MP Motorsport. He came 20th in the standings there, scoring four points. To warm up for that championship he contested two Formula Winter Series rounds with AS Motorsport and had a best finish of seventh place. This year his warm-up programme is F4 UAE with Xcel Motorsport.
“It’s an honor to join VAR and I’m thrilled about this opportunity,” said Rodella. “I’m eager to learn and grow within the team, aiming for strong performances throughout the season.”
The Italian raced in senior karting in 2022, coming sixth in the Trofeo Andrea Margutti for X30 Senior karts and 10th in the WSK Champions Cup for OK karts. He also took part in the Top Gun by Pro Racing school’s F4 track days.
