David Morales will continue in GB3 this year after securing a switch to JHR Developments.
The 19-year-old American has raced with Arden for the past two seasons, finishing 18th in British F4 in 2021 before stepping up to GB3 in 2022, scoring a podium finish at the opening round at Oulton Park and coming 22nd in the standings.
Morales raced in the rebranded Formula Regional Oceania series in New Zealand with M2 Motorsport at the beginning of this year, scoring his maiden single-seater victory at the opening round and finishing sixth in the points table.
“I was looking for a new challenge for the 2023 season and I am super excited about the chance to race with JHR Developments in the GB3 championship,” said Morales. “It’s a good team with strong results, including winning everything in British F4 in 2021 and placing in the top seven in GB3 last year.
“With three good drivers in the team, sharing data and video, we’ll be in a good place. Matthew [Rees] is ridiculous on his corner entries, Joseph [Loake] is meticulous, and there’s me – a mixture of both, so we should complement each other.
“I’m feeling good and positive after winning a race and getting podiums in FRegional so I’m keen to get back behind the wheel and prepare for the rest of the season. I’d also like to thank Euro Motorsport and 29 Management for their support.”
Matthew Rees and Joseph Loake are the other two drivers in JHR’s expanded three-car line-up, and have been testing for the team at Silverstone and Oulton Park over the past few days.
“We’re delighted that David will be joining us in the GB3 championship this season, rounding out a strong three-car line-up,” said JHR’s team principal Steven Hunter.
“He comes with experience in the car which is a real benefit, and his driving style compliments both Matthew and Joseph.
“We think that as a trio they should all be able to help each other throughout the year and I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses. David’s personality has already made for some entertaining test days as he is a funny young man and that relaxed attitude but desire to compete will fit in with us well.”
