Chris Dittmann Racing has signed Flynn Jackes to its GB3 line-up for 2024, 28 months after his last appearance in the series.
Jackes was born in the Philippines and started his motorsport career on the east Asian karting scene. He became Asian champion in Mini-ROK karts as a youngster, then moved to Australia and competed in the national championship there.
His karting even briefly took him to Europe, as he contested the South Garda Winter Cup in Mini-ROK in 2015 and beat several future single-seater racers, and in 2017 came 49th from a half-season in the WSK Super Master Series in OK-Junior.
Although his first single-seater tests took place seven years ago in a Formula 4 car in Australia, it took until the 2021 GB3 finale for Jackes to make his racing debut. In his three races at Donington Park with Hillspeed he took a best finish of 17th.
Jackes was reunited with the team last October when he drove in GB3 post-season testing at the same track, and he was back in action for a private test at Silverstone this week but with the CDR team he will race for this upcoming season.
“It’s a great opportunity to race in such a competitive championship and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do,” said Jackes about joining CDR in GB3.
CDR team owner Chris Dittmann added: “It’s brilliant to welcome Flynn to the team as he showed a lot of potential when he raced in GB3 back in 2021. The championship has progressed a lot since then but we’re confident we have the right tools to help Flynn continue to develop as a driver. We’re looking forward to pre-season testing, and hopefully a strong season together.”
