French talents Pierre-Louis Chovet and Hadrien David will return to single-seater racing this weekend at Motorland Aragon.
Both will be racing in the Formula Regional-based Eurocup-3, with Chovet joining Palou Motorsport’s line-up while David will be in Drivex School’s line-up of cars.
Chovet came fifth in FRegional’s European championship in 2020 and second in the Asian championship the year after, and his last single-seater outing was the inaugural Eurocup-3 event in 2023. The 22-year-old reached FIA Formula 3 before switching to sportscars, which resulted in coming fourth in International GT Open last year as a Lamborghini junior.
Former Renault Formula 1 junior David is two years younger and has more recent open-wheel experience. The 2019 French Formula 4 champion came third in F4 South East Asia with R-ace GP last year and and also raced part-time in FRegional Europe, the championship he was runner-up in three years ago.
David has spent 2024 racing for R-ace, but now in the Le Mans Cup’s LMP3 prototype class. He is third in the standings there.
Also joining Drivex, but as wildcard entrants, are Swedish duo Emil and Linus Hellberg. Emil is 48 years old and is the reigning Italian Sports Prototype champion. He usually races against Linus in that championship.
Daniel Nogales has left Drivex after almost two years with the team to switch to Sainteloc Racing. He first raced for Drivex in the second half of the 2022 Spanish F4 season, and scored 25 points with them to jump up to 14th in the standings.
He did the first three rounds of the 2023 campaign with the team, and three quarters of the Eurocup-3 season. Nogales came 12th in the latter series, but after five rounds of the 2024 season sits a lowly 19th in the standings with only three points.
Back in Sainteloc’s line-up after missing the last round is Finley Green. He injured himself in round three at Algarve, missing all three races there and then the next rounds at Paul Ricard and Zandvoort.
Stepping up from Spanish F4 to Eurocup-3 for the rest of the year is Douwe Dedecker, who will remain with the Global Racing Service team as he changes series.
The 16-year-old Belgian came 21st in British F4 as a car racing rookie, and began this year with a Formula Winter Series campaign in which he took one podium and was 16th in the points table. So far in Spanish F4 he has one point to his name, and is 20th in the standings.
