Carlin’s Jordan King and Jann Mardenborough were quickest on Friday during practice for round one of British F3 at Silverstone.
King outpaced everyone in the opening practice session in rather damp conditions, beating Antonio Giovinazzi to first by more than a second. Fortec’s Felipe Guimaraes and Will Buller, with another Carlin man, Jann Mardenborough, rounding out the top five. Ed Jones was the top-placed man in the National Class, taking ninth with Sun Zheng and Chris Vlok in 12th and 13th respectively.
In the second session, where the conditions were even more difficult, Mardenborough was the one to set the quickest time, ahead of King and Giovinazzi. John Bryant-Meisner was fourth despite running in the guest class with an F310, ahead of Buller and Sean Gelael. Jones, Zheng and Cameron Twynham were the top-placed National drivers.
