Campos Racing has completed its 2027 FIA Formula 3 line-up with the additions of Mattia Colnaghi and Ernesto Rivera.
They partner the previously announced Salim Hanna, who has two rounds of F3 experience while his team-mates each have a full season under their belts.
Rivera and Colnaghi came seventh and 13th in the standings respectively this year. It was all the more impressive for Rivera since he missed round one through injury and went on to win the sprint race at the Red Bull Ring and the feature race at Spa-Francorchamps with Campos.
Colnaghi raced for MP Motorsport and his run of four fourth place finishes in a row at Spa and the Hungaroring were the highlights of his season.
It’s a case of continuity for Rivera, who has spent two years as a Red Bull Junior Team member and has been in Campos’s garages since 2024. He was fifth in Spanish Formula 4 and 15th in Formula Winter Series with the team as a single-seater rookie, then was a race-winning fourth in Eurocup-3 the following the year.
The driver to beat there was Colnaghi, who has spent the three years of his car racing career to date with MP. He was the 2024 Spanish F4 and 2025 Eurocup-3 champion, so dominant he skipped the final round in the latter, and was runner-up in Eurocup-3’s winter series.
The 18-year-old’s only weekend away from the team was the 2025 Macau Grand Prix, for which he joined PHM Racing and finished fourth. In August of that year he became a Red Bull junior.
Campos’s team principal Adrian Campos said: “We are delighted to continue working with Ernesto for another season. He has done a fantastic job in his first year in FIA F3, demonstrating great adaptability, speed and maturity, particularly considering the challenges he faced at the beginning of the season. He has made the most of his opportunities, secured victories and podium finishes, and made a significant contribution to our teams’ championship title.”
Regarding new signing Colnaghi, Campos added: “He is an extremely talented driver and has shown his ability to fight for wins and championships from his very first steps in single-seaters. We will work with him throughout the winter to make sure we are as well prepared as possible for what will be a very demanding season.
“After the results we have achieved over the past two years, our goal is to continue fighting at the front and defend the titles we have secured this year. We are confident that Mattia has everything it takes to help us achieve that.”
Colnaghi said he is “very happy to join forces with Campos Racing”, and “having raced against the team in previous categories, I’ve always had great respect for them and the success they’ve achieved across the feeder series, especially in F3”.
