Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad will step up from Formula 4 to FIA Formula 3 next year with Prema.
Lindblad already knows the Italian team well, having spent this year racing for them in various F4 championships. He is also part of the team’s line-up for the F4 races at next month’s Macau Grand Prix.
The 16-year-old Anglo-Swede made his car racing debut in Italian F4 last year with Van Amersfoort Racing, contesting eight races and getting a bet finish of eighth. He then joined Prema for 2023, starting off with a campaign in F4 United Arab Emirates where he took a win en route to fifth in the standings. The Italian F4 championship followed, where he came third in the title fight after taking six wins and four poles, and in the new Euro 4 series he was fourth with one win.
“Super excited to be continuing with Prema for 2024 in FIA F3. We had a great year in F4 together, leading and competing for both championships for the whole season,” said Lindblad.
“Prema has been very strong in F3 this year, and that’s why I’m really excited and honoured to have the opportunity to continue and move up the ranks with them. We had positive post-season tests [in F3] together with good progression and steps made, and I can’t wait for the season to get started.”
Lindblad will be team-mate next year to Ferrari junior Dino Beganovic and Alpine junior Gabriele Mini, both going into their second seasons in F3.
Rene Rosin, Prema’s team principal, commented: “We were deeply impressed by Arvid this year, and we think he has the potential to succeed at the F3 level as well. We will work as hard as possible to ease his transition to such a challenging environment and allow him to be up to pace as soon as possible. Our F3 driver line-up for 2024 is now complete, and I could not be happier with the team we put together.”
