Reigning French Formula 4 champion Evan Giltaire has secured a place on the Formula Regional European Championship grid with ART Grand Prix.
The 17-year-old Frenchman did a starring job in his rookie season of car racing, taking six victories, seven other podiums and eight poles in French F4 en route to the title.
In karting he came fifth in the CIK-FIA European championship and sixth in the WSK Final Cup and Champions of the Future series for OK karts, while on X30 Senior karts he was the French champion, USA SuperNationals winner and IAME Warriors Final winner.
“I am thrilled to be joining ART GP, who is undoubtedly the best team in the junior formulas and one in which I feel very close,” said Giltaire.
“The warm welcome and smooth integration I experienced during my first two races and the winter tests have allowed me to develop some positive feelings. FREC is highly competitive, making it tricky to set any specific targets, but after a successful 2023 I hope I’ll be able to fight for race wins and continually improve progress from start to finish.”
Giltaire completes ART GP’s line-up alongside Sauber junior Lena Buhler, Williams junior Alessandro Giusti and Yaroslav Veselaho. He gained some FREC experience late last year by contesting the last two rounds with ART GP as a guest driver and taking a best finish of 11th.
ART GP team principal Sebastien Philippe commented: “In both karting and his single-seater debut, Evan has demonstrated both the sporting and personal qualities necessary to learn and progress swiftly and effectively. His debut in FREC with ART GP confirmed that our paths have excellent reasons to converge in 2024, when the team and Evan will be aiming on competing at the front of the field.”
