Indy Next teams Andretti Global and Cape Motorsports have announced they will enter into a technical partnership for the 2024 season.

Andretti has been racing in IndyCar’s primary feeder series since 2005, while Cape started off further down the single-seater ladder and achieved great success in USF2000 with 14 titles before competing in Indy Nxt for the first time last year. The team aims to join Andretti in being on the IndyCar grid in the future.

There have already been four signings by Andretti for the upcoming Indy Nxt season, with testing starting today and the first race taking place on March 10, while Cape is yet to announce any drivers for its sophomore campaign in the series after running two part-time entries last year.

“Both Nicholas and I are thrilled to be forming an alliance with Andretti Global,” said Dominic Cape, who is Cape Motorsports’ president and has been running the team alongside his brother Nicholas for 23 years.

“We had been talking to J-F [Thomann, Andretti’s president] for a while about this project and it is exciting to see it all come together. It is truly an honor to be forming an alliance with a name like Andretti, the team has a tremendous racing pedigree.

“Our core values remain the same and we continue to strive for victories, our commitment to the drivers, championships and staff remains unwavering; we are here to race, develop drivers and keep winning.”

Commenting on behalf of Andretti, J-F Thormann said: “We’ve known Dominic and Nicholas Cape for years through junior formulas and have always been impressed by their performance. They have built a small, but mighty organization recording many wins and championships and we are very happy to join forces in this Indy Nxt effort. Coming together to bring two cars to the grid will help maintain strength for the sport and is a testament to our dedication to driver development.”
