Andres Cardenas will spend a second season in Spanish Formula 4 with Campos Racing, it has been announced.

The 15-year-old Peruvian was previously a protege of Fernando Alonso, having joined the stable of drivers at his A14 Management firm in 2022. That year on OK Junior karts he won the WSK Champions Cup, was Champions of the Future Winter Series runner-up, sixth in CotF, 15th in WSK Super Master Series and 17th in the CIK-FIA World championship.

He had to wait until turning 15 before debuting in Spanish F4 last season, meaning he missed the first round, and he came eighth in the standings with the highlight of his year being a win and a second place at Jerez. Cardenas finished sixth on his debut at Motorland Aragon, bouncing back from getting a three-minute stop-go penalty and being black flagged in practice.

“I am really proud of being with Campos for another season,” said Cardenas. “We have demonstrated this last year what pace we have and for sure this year it’s going to be a good one.”

Campos’s team principal Adrian Campos Jr commented: “We are delighted to continue working with Andres for another season in the F4 Spain series. Andres’ karting record was impressive and he showed his proper racer nature since the beginning. He was able to claim his maiden win in the series only in his third appearance, which is a sign of what is still to come. Hopefully, Andres and Campos will be able to further raise our game in 2024 to put ourselves in title contention.”
