Alexander Abkhazava will switch to MP Motorsport for his second season in Eurocup-3 next year.
The Georgian-Russian racer – believed to be related to Shota Abkhazava who ran the ArtLine Engineering Formula 3 team, is a Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe class champion and has owned circuits in Georgia and Russia – drove for Sainteloc Racing in 2024 and used a Kazakhstani license.
He came ninth in the standings, kicking off his campaign with a second place at Spa-Francorchamps then returning to the podium in round three at Algarve as he won a race that ended in chaotic fashion. Abkhazava sat sixth in the standings with 73 points at the season’s halfway point, but he only made the top 10 once thereafter and slipped down the points table.
“I’m extremely excited to team up with MP Motorsport for my second season in Eurocup-3,” said Abkhazava.
“They have been the dominant force in the series this year and absolutely know how to prepare a winning car. I will now be part of the team that I have been fighting all year, and with the experience that I have gained all through 2024, my goal for 2025 is to be a consistent frontrunner and vie for the championship. Let’s get the season started!”
Abkhazava also finished 11th in this year’s FIA Formula Regional World Cup-awarding Macau Grand Prix, 15th in FRegional Middle East and made the podium in a Ultimate Cup Series cameo driving a FRegional car.

“All season long, he has been a worthy opponent to our drivers. So we didn’t hesitate to sign him up when the opportunity arose. It’s our aim to further hone his skills and capitalise on his knowledge of these cars to continue to fight up front. With Maciej [Gladysz], Valerio [Rinicella] and now Alexander, our Eurocup-3 line-up is gaining strength with every new signing, and I’m confident of repeating our strong 2024 form in the 2025 season.”
This year marked a big jump in competitivity for Abkhazava, who had come 24th in Spanish Formula 4 and 28th in F4 United Arab Emirates as a single-seater rookie in 2023.
