Max Taylor has chosen USF Pro 2000 as his next career step for 2025, and will race for Velocity Racing Development in the series.

The 17-year-old has had a stellar single-seater season since debuting last year, combining USF2000 and USF Juniors for two seasons.

As a rookie he came sixth in the USF Juniors standings with one win and two other podiums, and at the higher level of USF2000 did four rounds and had a best finish of sixth en route to 18th in the points table.

For 2024 he managed to do a full campaign in both, claiming the USF Juniors title with three victories, six other podiums and three poles, then in USF2000 he netted four wins, four other podium finishes and came third in the standings.

His triumph in the former earned him a scholarship to spend on a USF2000 seat for 2025, but he is instead moving further up IndyCar’s support ladder with the same team he has been driving for in the lower tiers.

“I’m so excited to make the step up to USFP2000 and to continue my racing career with VRD,” Taylor said. “I can’t wait to get to work on winning another championship with this team. Thank you to [team boss] Dan Mitchell, Jacob Loomis and my parents for making this happen.”

Mitchell added: “Max has proven time and again that he’s ready for this challenge. He’s delivered impressive results all season, and we’re excited to support him as he heads into USFP2000. Max has the skill to go after another championship, and we’re proud to be part of his journey.”
