Jak Crawford has signed to race for DAMS in Formula 2 next year, after coming 13th in the standings with Hitech GP in his rookie season.

Two weeks ago Crawford announced he would be leaving the Red Bull Junior Team at the end of 2023, having joined its ranks in early 2020, but had already secured the budget to stay in F2 for next year.

During his time as a Red Bull junior, the 18-year-old American has been ADAC Formula 4 runner-up, third in Euroformula, a race-winner in FIA Formula 3 and a race-winner in F2 as well. His time at DAMS will begin with this week’s post-season F2 test at Yas Marina Circuit.

“I’m very excited to be joining DAMS for 2024. I believe the team is the best place for me to be for the coming season to get the most out of myself as a driver in my second season of F2,” said Crawford.

“I’ve been impressed by the work ethic and achievements of the squad. I believe that together, we can achieve strong results in next year’s campaign. Our goal for next year is to make the absolute most of every race weekend. I’m looking forward to joining up with DAMS in the post-season test to begin working with them ahead of next season.”

DAMS’ owner Charles Pic commented: “We’re delighted to have such a young talent in Jak driving for us next season. He has already demonstrated his ability and dedication throughout his career, and showed he is ready to compete at the front in F2 with his victory and podiums this year.

“We’re excited to work with him during post-season testing at Abu Dhabi and to deliver a strong 2024 campaign together.”
