Drivex School has added 2021 Formula Nordic champion William Karlsson to its line-up for the new Eurocup-3 series.
Karlsson debuted in single-seaters in 2020 in the Formula Renault 1.6-spec FNordic series, and won once en route to fifth in the points for Nika Racing, the team owned by his Formula 3 title-winning father Nicklas Karlsson.
He stayed in FNordic for 2021 and took seven wins and the title. Last year he planned to move to the new ACCR Formula 4 championship with Renauer Motorsport, but delays to that series getting underway meant he instead race for BVM Racing in Italian F4 where he came 21st in the standings with one point. Karlsson now joins Drivex on a two-year deal.
“Super happy to confirm that I will be joining Drivex for the Eurocup-3 championship. Really thankful for this opportunity,” said the Swedish teenager.
Drivex team boss Miguel Angel de Castro commented: “The connection with William and his backers was instant, as it quickly became apparent we are all dedicated to the same principles. We were happy to put together a two-year programme in the Eurocup-3 championship for William, who we rate very highly.
“We believe without a shadow of a doubt William has the potential to reach the top of the sport and we will be happy to help him on his path.”
Karlsson will be team-mate to GB3 graduate Nick Gilkes in Eurocup-3, which will use an upgraded Formula Regional car from Tatuus.
