MP Motorsport has announced that its FIA Formula 3 driver Mari Boya will also race in the new Eurocup-3 series this year.

Eurocup-3 gets underway this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps and uses modified Formula Regional cars to sit between that category and F3. It has been brought together by the promoters of the Spanish Formula 4 championship.

MP now has five drivers signed for the series, with Boya joining Euroformula winner Sebastian Ogaard, Danish F4 championship runner-up Sebastian Gravlund, Motorsport Games F4 Cup medallist Bruno del Pino and Jose Garfias.

“Mari joins our Eurocup-3 team for the 2023 season,” announced MP. “Alongside his F3 campaign, Mari will also drive the brand new Eurocup-3 series. He will drive the full season, but will miss the second round at Motorland Aragon due to the clash with F3’s Monaco GP.”

Boya was runner-up in Spanish F4 as a single-seater rookie in 2020 with MP, then stepped up to Formula Regional. He claimed one podium en route to 14th in the European championship in 2021 while driving for Van Amersfoort Racing,.

For 2022 he joined ART Grand Prix and improved to 10th in the points table but only made the podium once and made a mid-season return to MP. The 19-year-old started 2023 by driving for the MP-run Hyderabad Blackbirds team in the FRegional Middle East championship, and won twice to come fifth in the standings.

His graduation to F3 has so far come to two rounds, with a 15th place on debut at Bahrain followed by disqualification in Melbourne as MP had committed a violation of the technical regulations.
